What supports the Port Road account

This register separates checked sources, archive material still to inspect and questions that remain open. A catalogue reference identifies a record; it does not mean the record has been read.

77registered sources and media records
5specific archive records to inspect
6open research priorities

What remains unresolved

The next evidence needed

  1. Choose the first reconstruction date from an acquired, legible passenger timetable and matching infrastructure evidence.
  2. Confirm the provisional station and junction sequence against the acquired working timetable, station handbook and date-matched diagrams.
  3. Acquire date-matched maps, track plans and signalling diagrams; inspect the original records behind the catalogue leads.
  4. Find freight timetables and evidence for agricultural, goods and harbour traffic. Do not assign commodities to individual trains without evidence.
  5. Separate the last trains, effective closure dates and physical removal dates, and record the surviving connection towards Ayr separately.
  6. Find photographs, films, railway workers and community accounts with source, date, attribution and publication rights.
