Canonical locomotive pilot record

BR Standard Class 9F

Preserved No. 92220 Evening Star illustrates the class. The separate No. 92233 Waverley occurrence is a qualified evidence pointer, not a general claim that 9Fs were common on the route.

One reported empty-stock working

A 2016 transcription reports No. 92233 on a down empty-stock working over the Waverley Route on 20 June 1966. The cited Steam Days article and original Railway Observer issue have not yet been inspected, so the relationship remains qualified and under review. The evidence does not support a broad heavy-freight association.

Still unresolved

  • The May 2016 Steam Days article has not been inspected.
  • The original Railway Observer issue and page have not been identified.
  • No. 92220 must remain an illustration rather than the reported route locomotive.
